A First-Of-Its-Kind Blended Learning Writing and Grammar Curriculum Ushers in the Next Generation of Competent Communicators
[Grandville, MI] – June 19, 2017 — WriteSteps reports a successful inaugural year for its CaptivationStation Student Platform, a digital curriculum for writing and grammar. More than 75 schools subscribed to CaptivationStation in the 2016-2017 school year. A recent customer survey, conducted by WriteSteps, shows that teachers are implementing CaptivationStation with fidelity, becoming more confident writing teachers, and would recommend the blended learning program.
Teaching writing and grammar while meeting the needs of individual students is an ongoing challenge. CaptivationStation helps educators harness the power of blended learning with a student instruction and practice platform. Third-fifth grade students acquire their standards-based writing and grammar instruction via videos (Captivators). They complete their independent practice assignments, revise, edit, and receive peer and teacher feedback on the student digital platform. CaptivationStation allows teachers to use instructional time to differentiate instruction to individual or small groups of students rather than teaching the same lesson to the entire class.
Kristen Mullen, a third grade teacher from Leechburg, Pennsylvania said: “I didn’t think WriteSteps could get any better. CaptivationStation is wonderful for so many reasons. Once I set my students up, they began working independently, and I was able to work with so many of my kids one on one. CaptivationStation gives me so much freedom as a teacher to differentiate the lesson to meet the needs of every single student. This program is a must have.”
“My students enjoy writing time so much more than in the past because they enjoy watching the Captivators,” explained Samantha Niehaus, an East Jackson Elementary School teacher in (city, state?). “The teacher feedback option in CaptivationStation is a time saver. I can still work with the students during instruction time but can leave feedback on my own, and they can view it anytime.”
